Steering column and shaft

The shaft from the steering wheel down to the rack, including its adjustment mechanism.

How you know it is this

  • A rattle or knock from the column when the wheel is moved
  • Electric reach or rake adjustment that has stopped working
  • Play at the wheel that is not in the rack or the track rods

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Columns on modern cars carry the electric steering lock, the angle sensor and often the adjustment motors, so a column is rarely just a shaft.
  • Anything involving the airbag or the clock spring needs the correct disconnection procedure.
  • Coding may be required after fitting.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
