Which sealant, threadlocker or cleaner?
In this range the colour on the tube is the specification. Ultra Black, Ultra Blue, Versachem Mega Gray and Mega Copper are four different silicones for four different joints, and blue and red threadlocker are the difference between a bolt you can undo and one you cannot.
Sealing and locking
Making a joint hold — gaskets, threads and bonded parts.
Cleaning and degreasing
Getting the surface fit to seal, and the workshop fit to work in.
Lubrication and protection
Greases, sprays and coatings that go on at service.
Or start with a brand
Permatex and Versachem for sealing and bonding, Molykote for specialist lubrication, Fevicol for adhesives.

Which gasket makers & rtv silicone product do you need?
The colour is not decoration. Each silicone is formulated for a different fluid and a different temperature, and using the wrong one is how a joint weeps again a month later.
- Ultra Black
- Flexible and oil resistant. The default where the joint sees engine oil.
- Ultra Blue
- The multi-purpose one, sensor safe. General gasketing where neither constant oil nor extreme heat is the problem.
- Versachem Mega Gray
- Sensor safe, −65 °F to 450 °F continuous and 650 °F intermittent. The one for a hotter joint that still has to stay sealed.
- Versachem Mega Copper
- The high-temperature one, to 700 °F. Turbochargers and exhaust work, not general oil joints.
- Permatex high-temperature red
- −65 °F to 650 °F, sensor safe. Exhaust manifolds and anything that runs hot.
- Clear / general silicone
- Non-structural sealing and bonding where appearance matters and heat does not.
- Form-A-Gasket and spray-a-gasket
- Non-hardening and tack compounds used with a conventional gasket rather than instead of one.
- Ultra Black retains high flexibility and oil resistance, and is sensor safe, low odour and non-corrosive. — Permatex, Ultra Black RTV product page
- Versachem Mega Copper resists temperatures up to 700 °F and is intended for exhaust and turbocharger work. — Versachem, Mega Copper Silicone 88839 product data
- Versachem Mega Gray is sensor safe and rated −65 °F to 450 °F continuous, 650 °F intermittent. — Versachem, Mega Gray Silicone 99939 product data
Worth knowing. “Sensor safe” matters more than it sounds. An ordinary acetoxy silicone gives off acetic acid as it cures, which attacks oxygen sensors — on a modern engine use a sensor-safe RTV or you may cure a leak and buy a sensor. On this shelf the 66C general-purpose clear adhesive sealant is the one that is not sold as sensor safe, and it is the one the warning is about.
Which threadlockers & anti-seize product do you need?
Blue and red are not strengths of the same idea — they decide whether the bolt ever comes out again.
- Threadlocker Blue — medium strength
- For nuts and bolts 1/4 to 3/4 inch (6–20 mm). Locks against vibration and still comes apart with hand tools.
- Threadlocker Red — high strength
- For heavy-duty fasteners 3/8 to 1 inch (10–25 mm), studs and press fits. Effectively permanent.
- Anti-seize
- The opposite job — keeps a hot or dissimilar-metal thread from welding itself shut so it can be undone later.
- Threadlocker Blue is rated for fasteners 1/4 to 3/4 inch (6 mm to 20 mm) and is removable with hand tools. — Permatex, Medium-Strength Threadlocker Blue product page
- Threadlocker Red suits 3/8 to 1 inch (10 mm to 25 mm), adds 3,000 PSI holding power on slip and press fits, and may require heat or special tools to remove. — Permatex, High-Strength Threadlocker Red product page
Worth knowing. Red on a bolt you will need to undo is the expensive mistake in this category — it usually means heat, and sometimes it means drilling. If in doubt, blue.
Which adhesives & epoxies product do you need?
Two-part epoxies are chosen by working time and by what they are bonding.
- Fast epoxy (4–5 minute)
- Small repairs where you can hold the parts still. Short working time.
- Steel or metal epoxy
- Metal-filled, for filling and rebuilding as well as bonding.
- Plastic welder
- Formulated for plastics, which ordinary epoxy does not hold well.
- Superglue (cyanoacrylate)
- Instant bonding of small, close-fitting parts. Brittle under shock.
Worth knowing. A fast epoxy sets while you are still aligning the part. For anything that needs positioning, choose the longer cure and clamp it.
Which cleaners & degreasers product do you need?
Match the cleaner to the surface, not to how dirty it is.
- Brake and parts cleaner
- Fast-drying solvent for metal components. Leaves no residue.
- Contact cleaner
- Safe on electrical connectors and switchgear.
- Spray Nine and water-based degreasers
- General surfaces, and cleaning that must not be solvent.
- Battery terminal cleaner
- Neutralises acid corrosion on posts and clamps.
- Throttle body / carb cleaner
- For the intake side, where deposits are carbon rather than grease.
Worth knowing. Brake cleaner is a strong solvent meant for metal. On painted panels, rubber hoses or plastic trim it can lift the finish or craze the plastic.
Which greases & lubricants product do you need?
Greases are not interchangeable — the wrong one conducts, melts or attacks the part it is on.
- Dielectric grease
- Non-conductive. Seals connectors and bulb holders against moisture without bridging contacts.
- White lithium (with PTFE)
- General hinges, latches, slides and linkages.
- Copper grease / anti-seize paste
- High-temperature threads and brake hardware.
- Silicone spray
- Safe on rubber and plastic, where petroleum greases would swell them.
- Chain lube
- Penetrates then stays put on a moving chain.
Worth knowing. Dielectric grease is an insulator by design. It goes around and over a connection to keep water out — not between two contacts that need to conduct.
Which coatings & repair product do you need?
Protection and patching, where replacing the part is not proportionate.
- Underbody coating
- Rubberised or bitumen coating over sound metal, against stone chip and salt.
- Rust treatment
- Converts or neutralises existing rust before painting over it.
- Muffler and tailpipe bandage
- Wraps and seals a blown exhaust section as a temporary repair.
- Disc brake quiet
- Applied to pad backs against squeal. Never on the friction face.
Worth knowing. An underbody coating over rust seals the rust in and lets it carry on underneath. Treat or remove the corrosion first — the coating is protection, not a cure.
What you get with the price.
Stock on the ground
Same-day into Sharjah and the northern emirates for what is in the yard, one to three working days elsewhere.

Refurbished units are cleaned, repaired and inspected in our own yard rather than shipped on as found.
Bulk and project supply
Send the full requirement rather than line by line — contractor and bulk rates are better than list.
Straight answers
If we cannot meet a specification or evidence a standard, we say so at enquiry stage rather than after the order.
Maintenance chemicals — sealing, locking, cleaning and protecting
Workshop consumables where the wrong choice does not show up until the joint leaks or the thread seizes. The decisions are narrow, and worth getting right the first time.
