Also called brake booster, servo.
How you know it is this
- A very hard pedal that needs both feet, especially with the engine running
- A hiss from behind the pedal when you brake
- The engine stumbling or idling rough when you press the brake
Worth knowing before you buy
- A hard pedal is the servo or its vacuum supply. A soft pedal is hydraulic — the two faults are opposite and are often confused.
- Check the vacuum hose and its one-way valve first. They are a fraction of the price and fail far more often.
- On modern diesels and small turbo petrols the vacuum comes from a separate pump, not the inlet manifold.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
Rest of the calipers and hydraulics
