Brake pipes (hard lines) and unions

The rigid metal lines running along the underside of the car from the master cylinder and ABS unit out to each flexible hose.

Also called brake lines, hard lines.

How you know it is this

  • Fluid on the underside of the car or on the driveway
  • A pedal that goes to the floor suddenly, with the brake warning lit
  • Visible rust scaling on the line, usually near a bracket where it holds moisture

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A corroded brake pipe is an immediate failure item, not something to watch.
  • Usually supplied as a pre-formed line for the car or as a length to be flared on site. The pre-formed one is far quicker to fit.
  • Corrosion clusters where the pipe passes through a clip or runs near the rear axle.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
