Also called flexi hose, rubber brake line.
How you know it is this
- A spongy pedal that never firms up however much you bleed it
- Bulging, cracking or perishing visible when the hose is flexed
- One brake staying on after you release the pedal — the hose has collapsed internally and is acting as a valve
Worth knowing before you buy
- Replaced in pairs per axle. They age at the same rate.
- A collapsed hose behaves exactly like a seized caliper, and it is much cheaper. Worth ruling out first.
- Rubber perishes faster in this climate than the service interval assumes. Age matters more than mileage.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
