Oil filter housing

The casting holding the oil filter, usually carrying the oil cooler and the pressure sensor as well.

How you know it is this

  • Oil leaking down the side or back of the engine
  • A cracked plastic housing
  • Oil and coolant mixing where the cooler sits in the housing

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Plastic housings warp and crack with heat. An aluminium replacement is available for some engines.
  • Most housing leaks are the gasket, not the housing. Check before buying the casting.
  • Where the oil cooler is integral, a failed seal puts oil into the coolant — which is alarming and is not a head gasket.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
