Oil filter and housing cap

The filter element itself and the screw cap that retains it, with its O-ring.

How you know it is this

  • An oil leak from the top of the filter housing straight after a service
  • A cracked plastic cap

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Most modern Mercedes use a paper cartridge in a housing, not a spin-on canister. Ordering the wrong type is common.
  • The cap O-ring is single-use and is supplied with a proper filter. A reused one is the usual reason a car leaks after its own service.
  • Plastic caps crack if over-tightened, and they are a separate part from the filter.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
