Oil cooler

The heat exchanger that keeps engine oil temperature down, usually by running it against coolant.

How you know it is this

  • Oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil
  • Oil temperature climbing on a long run
  • A leak from between the cooler and the block

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Its seals fail far more often than the cooler itself. Quote the seals first.
  • Oil in coolant from a cooler looks exactly like a head gasket and costs a fraction. Worth ruling out before any head work.
  • The cooling system must be flushed afterwards — oil left in coolant attacks hoses and the water pump seal.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
