Valves — inlet and exhaust

The valves that let the mixture in and the exhaust out.

How you know it is this

  • Compression lost on one cylinder
  • A misfire that does not move when coils and plugs are swapped around
  • A burnt exhaust valve, usually after running lean or hot

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Inlet and exhaust valves are different sizes and materials and are not interchangeable.
  • A bent valve after a timing failure usually means several are bent, not one.
  • Valve work means the head off and a machine shop. Price the head complete against the repair.

What we need to quote it. The engine code, and inlet or exhaust. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
