Also called tappets, cam followers, lifters.
How you know it is this
- A tapping from the top of the engine, loudest when cold
- Tapping that quietens as oil pressure builds but never fully goes
- A misfire with a mechanical noise on the same cylinder
Worth knowing before you buy
- A ticking lifter is usually an oil problem — wrong grade, low level or long intervals — before it is a worn part.
- Replaced as a set. Fitting one new lifter among worn ones just moves the noise.
- A collapsed lifter left long enough wears the camshaft lobe above it, which turns a small job into a big one.
What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
