Wiring harnesses and repair looms

Sections of the car's wiring, and the short repair looms made for the places that habitually break.

How you know it is this

  • Intermittent faults that change when a wire is moved
  • Several unrelated faults on one door or one corner
  • Visible chafing, green corrosion or brittle insulation
  • Faults that come and go with weather or temperature

Worth knowing before you buy

  • The door hinge loom is the classic one. It flexes every time the door opens and the wires break inside the rubber boot — and short repair looms exist for exactly that, at a fraction of a full harness.
  • Rodent damage is worth checking on any car that stands.
  • Repairing a section properly beats replacing a whole harness on almost every car.
  • Faults that move when you wiggle the loom are wiring, not modules. That test is free and it saves a great deal.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and where the fault has been traced to. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
