Fuse and relay boxes

The fuse and relay boards around the car, and the individual fuses and relays in them.

How you know it is this

  • A circuit dead with a fuse that keeps blowing
  • A relay that clicks repeatedly or not at all
  • Melted or discoloured fuse holders
  • Corrosion from water ingress

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A fuse that blows again immediately is telling you there is a short. Fitting a bigger fuse causes a fire; find the short.
  • On most modern Mercedes the fuse boxes are integrated into the SAM units and are not independently replaceable — which changes this from a cheap job to a coded module.
  • A melted holder means a bad connection heating up, and the holder needs repairing as well as the fuse.
  • Relays can be swapped with an identical one elsewhere in the box as a free test.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and which circuit. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
