Also called window winder, window mechanism.
How you know it is this
- A crunching or grinding from inside the door as the window moves
- Glass that drops into the door or sits crooked
- A window that moves slowly or stops part way
- The motor running with no movement — a snapped cable
Worth knowing before you buy
- MOST FAILURES ARE THE REGULATOR, NOT THE MOTOR. The plastic clips holding the glass and the steel cable are what break, and they are the cheap parts.
- Frequently supplied as a regulator with the motor already fitted, which is usually the sensible way to buy it.
- Needs re-initialising afterwards on cars with one-touch and anti-trap.
- Heat makes the plastic carriers brittle here, so this is a common failure locally.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, which door, and whether the motor still runs. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
