Daytime running lights

The lights that run whenever the car is on, usually an LED strip in the headlamp or bumper.

Also called DRL.

How you know it is this

  • A dead or partly dead strip, with some LEDs out
  • A DRL that has gone dim or changed colour
  • A lighting fault message

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Where the DRL is an LED strip inside the headlamp it is usually NOT separately replaceable — which is why a few dead LEDs can mean a headlamp. Establish that before assuming a cheap fix.
  • Where it is a separate bumper unit it is a small and inexpensive part.
  • A strip that is partly out is failing and the rest follows.

What we need to quote it. A photograph, the chassis number, and left or right. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
