How you know it is this
- Cracking across the top, usually above the instruments or at the screen edge
- A warped or lifted top surface
- Damage after airbag deployment
- Rattles from inside the dash
Worth knowing before you buy
- THE FULL DASHBOARD IS RARELY THE RIGHT ANSWER. It is a very large job — the whole interior forward of the seats comes out, plus the steering column and the airbags — and it is usually the top PAD that has failed, not the structure.
- Ask about a dashboard cover or a retrim of the top before pricing an assembly. On a sun-cracked dash that is a fraction of the cost and it is the normal repair here.
- After an airbag deployment the dash usually needs replacing rather than repairing, and the airbag module with it.
- Colour and material must match the interior code.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number so we can read the interior code, and photographs of the damage. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
