Fuel water separator (diesel)

The bowl under the diesel filter that collects water out of the fuel, with a drain and often a sensor.

How you know it is this

  • A water-in-fuel warning
  • Rough running or a car that will not start after a fill
  • Visible water when the bowl is drained

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Water is what destroys diesel high-pressure pumps and injectors, and this is the only thing standing between the two.
  • Drained at every service, and worth draining sooner in a car that stands.
  • Ignoring a water warning is the most expensive economy available on a diesel.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
