Fuel lines and quick connectors

The pipes carrying fuel from the tank to the engine, and the push-fit connectors joining them.

How you know it is this

  • A smell of fuel with no visible pool
  • A damp patch or staining along a line underneath the car
  • A connector that has gone brittle and cracked
  • Loss of prime overnight, so the car is hard to start in the morning only

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Plastic quick connectors go brittle with heat and frequently break on removal — order spares before starting any fuel job.
  • A tiny air leak on the suction side causes hard starting with no fuel leak at all, which is a confusing fault to chase.
  • High-pressure diesel lines between pump, rail and injectors are single-use on many engines and must not be refitted.

What we need to quote it. The engine code, and which line if it has been identified. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
