Fuel filler cap and neck

The cap, the filler neck and the flap assembly.

How you know it is this

  • A check-engine light with an evaporative system leak code — very often just the cap
  • A smell of fuel around the filler
  • A flap that will not open, or a locking motor that has failed
  • The pump nozzle cutting out constantly while filling

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A loose or perished cap seal is one of the most common causes of an evaporative emissions fault. It is the cheapest thing to change before anything else.
  • The nozzle cutting out repeatedly is usually the breather in the neck, not the pump at the station.
  • The flap release is electric on most modern cars and is a separate small motor.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
