Crankshaft main bearings

The shell bearings the crankshaft turns in, along the length of the block.

How you know it is this

  • Low oil pressure at idle when hot
  • A deep rumble rather than a sharp knock
  • Metal in the oil

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Low hot idle pressure is the classic sign, and it is worth confirming with a mechanical gauge rather than the dash light.
  • Sized to the crank, so the crank is measured first.
  • Main bearing wear and big-end wear usually arrive together.

What we need to quote it. The engine code and the crank size. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
