Turbochargers

A used or reconditioned turbocharger.

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A RECONDITIONED TURBO IS USUALLY THE BETTER BUY than a salvage one. It has new bearings and seals and a known balance; a used one has an unknown history of oil supply.
  • Check shaft play by hand before buying used: any in-and-out movement, or blades touching the housing, means walk away.
  • Whatever you fit, the oil feed line must be renewed and the intercooler and charge pipes cleaned of old oil. That is what killed the last one and it will kill this one.
  • The actuator is often the real fault and is far cheaper than any turbo, used or not. Have that ruled out first.

What we need to quote it. The engine code, and whether the car has one turbo or two. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
