Worth knowing before you buy
- Hydraulic and electric racks are different parts. An electric one usually needs coding to the car.
- A used rack's history is unknown, and a rack that has sat drained can have dried seals that leak soon after fitting. Ask whether it has been stored with fluid in it.
- Before buying, be sure it is the rack. An inner tie rod or a worn column coupling produces the same play at a small fraction of the cost.
- 4MATIC racks differ from rear-drive.
- Alignment afterwards, always, and steering angle calibration on anything with ESP.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, whether the steering is hydraulic or electric, and whether the car is 4MATIC. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
