Air springs and bellows

The rubber air bag itself, where it is supplied separately from the damper.

Also called air bag, bellows, air spring.

How you know it is this

  • A corner that sinks overnight
  • Visible cracking or perishing in the folds of the rubber when the car is lifted
  • Soapy water bubbling on the bellows with the car raised

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Rubber ages faster in this climate than the mileage suggests. Heat and UV, not distance, are what finish these.
  • Where the bellows is supplied on its own, fitting it to a good damper is far cheaper than a complete strut — but only if the damper really is good.
  • Cracks hide in the folds. Inspect with the car raised so the bag is extended.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
