Air compressor and relay

The pump that makes the compressed air the system rides on, with the relay that switches it.

Also called AIRMATIC pump, air compressor.

How you know it is this

  • The car taking a long time to rise, or not rising at all
  • A compressor you can hear running for a minute or more at a time
  • An AIRMATIC fault after the car has stood for a few days
  • A compressor that is silent — often the relay, not the pump

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A compressor almost never fails on its own. It burns out because it has been running constantly to feed a leak, so find the leak or the new one goes the same way.
  • The relay is a fraction of the price of the compressor and fails often. Worth checking before condemning the pump.
  • Most compressors have an air dryer cartridge. A saturated dryer puts moisture through the whole system and is a cheap thing to renew at the same time.

What we need to quote it. Whether the car has been running the compressor constantly, and for how long. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
