Intake manifold

The casting distributing air to each cylinder. On diesels it also carries the swirl flaps.

How you know it is this

  • A hunting idle or a whistle — an air leak
  • A rattle from inside on a diesel — the swirl flap linkage
  • A manifold runner fault code

Worth knowing before you buy

  • On a diesel the manifold usually comes off because of the swirl flaps, and those are often available separately for far less.
  • Direct-injection engines build carbon on the back of the inlet valves, and the manifold has to come off to clean it. Do both at once.
  • Plastic manifolds crack with heat and cannot be reliably sealed once they have.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
