Injector seals, washers and clamps

The copper washer sealing each injector into the head, the O-rings on its body, and the clamp holding it down.

Also called injector seal kit, copper washers.

How you know it is this

  • A chuffing or blowing noise from the top of a diesel engine
  • Black soot around the base of an injector
  • A smell of exhaust in the engine bay

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Single-use, always. Reusing a copper washer is the usual reason an injector blows back past its seat.
  • Left alone, a blowing injector seal carbons the injector into the head so hard that removing it can mean the head comes off.
  • Cheap. Always ordered with injectors and whenever one is disturbed.

What we need to quote it. The engine code and how many. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
