Fuel injectors

The valves that spray fuel into the cylinder or the inlet port, at the exact moment and quantity the engine asks for.

How you know it is this

  • A misfire on one cylinder that follows the injector when it is swapped to another
  • Rough idle, especially cold
  • Black smoke and heavy consumption on a diesel
  • A diesel knocking or 'nailing' harder on one cylinder
  • Fuel smell, or a leak at the injector seat

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A common-rail diesel injector and a petrol port injector are entirely different parts at entirely different money. Establish which your car has before reacting to a price.
  • Diesel injectors usually need coding to the car after fitting — each has a calibration code that has to be entered, or the engine runs badly with new parts in it.
  • They are often supplied and quoted individually. Say how many you need.
  • Reconditioned injectors are a genuine option on diesels and are far cheaper. Worth quoting both.
  • Seals and washers are single-use and must be ordered with them.

What we need to quote it. The engine code, petrol or diesel, and how many. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
