Anti-squeal shims and fitting kits

The shims, clips, springs and grease that locate the pad in the caliper and stop it vibrating against the disc.

Also called fitting kit, pad clips, shims.

How you know it is this

  • A new set of pads that squeals from the day they were fitted
  • A rattle over bumps from one corner

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Most squeal after a pad change is the fitting kit, not the pads. Old clips lose their tension.
  • Some pad sets include the shims and some do not — worth checking before the car is booked in.
  • The grease is a specific high-temperature copper or ceramic type. Ordinary grease melts out and the noise returns.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
