Gear selector module

The electronic module reading the selector position and telling the gearbox, on cars with no mechanical linkage.

Also called ISM, selector module, DIRECT SELECT.

How you know it is this

  • The car refusing to leave Park
  • The wrong gear shown on the dash
  • A selector fault message
  • The car going into neutral on its own

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Needs coding to the car.
  • Water ingress into the console is a common cause on cars where the module sits low.
  • Rule out the brake light switch first — the interlock uses it, and it is a fraction of the price.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
