Charge pipes and hoses

The pipes carrying compressed air from the turbo to the intercooler and on to the inlet.

Also called boost pipes, charge air hoses.

How you know it is this

  • A sudden loss of power with a loud hiss or whoosh under acceleration
  • A boost leak code
  • A split visible in a rubber hose, usually at a bend
  • A pipe that has popped off its connection

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Rubber and plastic charge pipes crack with heat and oil. In this climate they go sooner than the mileage suggests.
  • A split charge pipe feels exactly like a failed turbo and costs a fraction. Always ruled out first.
  • Oil in the pipes means the turbo seals are passing — fixing the pipe alone does not address that.

What we need to quote it. The engine code, and which pipe if it has been identified. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
