Boost pressure sensor

The sensor telling the engine how much pressure is in the inlet, so it can control the turbo.

Also called MAP sensor, charge pressure sensor.

How you know it is this

  • Over- or underboost codes
  • Limp mode with no mechanical fault found
  • Poor running that comes and goes

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Cheap, and worth ruling out before any turbo work.
  • Soot and oil mist coat the sensing element on diesels. Cleaning sometimes restores it.
  • A sensor reading wrongly makes the engine fight a turbo that is perfectly healthy.

What we need to quote it. The engine code and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
