Shock absorbers — rear

The rear damper. On an estate or a seven-seater it works harder than the front because of what the car carries.

Also called rear shocks, rear dampers.

How you know it is this

  • The back of the car floating or wallowing over dips
  • Oil on the damper body
  • A clonk from the rear over speed bumps

Worth knowing before you buy

  • In pairs.
  • Some estates and SUVs run self-levelling rear dampers or rear air springs with conventional front struts. Those are a different part and a different price.
  • ADS applies at the rear too on cars that have it.

What we need to quote it. Whether the rear is on steel springs, self-levelling or air. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
