Also called bump rubber, gaiter, dust boot.
How you know it is this
- A hard thud over deep bumps rather than a controlled stop
- Crumbled black foam on the ground under the car
- A damper that has failed early with a scored rod
Worth knowing before you buy
- A perished dust cover is what kills a damper: grit scores the rod and the seal follows within months.
- Cheap, and fitted at the same time as the damper. Reusing a crumbling one is a false economy measured in whole struts.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
