How you know it is this
- Distorted or crackling sound from one speaker
- One channel silent
- No sound at all with a working head unit
- A rattle from a door at volume
Worth knowing before you buy
- Speaker foam surrounds perish in heat and humidity, and a distorted speaker here is often that rather than a blown coil.
- No sound at all with a healthy screen points at the amplifier, which is usually under a seat or in the boot.
- Upgraded systems — Burmester and Harman Kardon — use different speakers and a different amplifier, and the parts do not interchange with the standard system.
- Coding may be required if the amplifier is replaced.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, which speaker, and whether the car has an upgraded audio system. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
