Also called COMAND, MBUX, head unit, infotainment.
How you know it is this
- A screen that stays black or flickers
- A unit that restarts repeatedly
- Touch input not registering
- No sound with the unit apparently working
Worth knowing before you buy
- CODED TO THE CAR. A used unit from a donor car carries that car's data and usually will not work without programming. Some are locked to the vehicle entirely.
- Screen and head unit are separate parts on many cars, and a dead display is often just the screen.
- Software updates fix a surprising number of these complaints without any part at all. Worth trying first.
- No sound with a working screen is usually the amplifier, not the head unit.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, the part number off the unit, and a photograph of the screen. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
