High-voltage fuses and service disconnect

The main high-voltage fuse and the manual service disconnect that a technician removes to isolate the pack before working on it.

Also called service plug, MSD, pyrofuse.

How you know it is this

  • A completely dead high-voltage system
  • A blown main fuse after a fault elsewhere
  • A pyrotechnic fuse that has fired after an impact

Worth knowing before you buy

  • THE SERVICE DISCONNECT IS THE SAFETY DEVICE that makes all other work on this system possible. It is not an ordinary part.
  • Many cars have a PYROTECHNIC fuse that fires in a collision to isolate the pack instantly. Once fired it must be replaced and it is a one-use explosive device.
  • A main fuse that has blown did so for a reason. Replacing it without finding the fault is dangerous.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
