Gearbox mounts

The mount carrying the back of the gearbox, completing the three-point support of the drivetrain.

How you know it is this

  • A clunk from under the centre of the car when changing from Drive to Reverse
  • Vibration at a particular road speed
  • A sagging, cracked or collapsed mount visible from underneath

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Usually fails after the engine mounts, because it then takes their load.
  • Cheap and reasonably accessible on most cars.
  • Doing engine mounts and leaving a collapsed gearbox mount just moves the noise.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
