Also called engine mountings, motor mounts.
How you know it is this
- Vibration through the steering wheel and seat at idle, especially in Drive at a standstill
- A clunk on pulling away or lifting off
- Fluid weeping from a mount — most Mercedes mounts are hydraulic
- The engine visibly lifting when revved
Worth knowing before you buy
- Most Mercedes engine mounts are fluid-filled. When they leak they collapse, and a solid rubber substitute passes far more vibration into the cabin.
- In pairs — the second is the same age and doing the same work.
- Worn mounts let the engine move enough to strain hoses, the exhaust and the gearbox mount.
What we need to quote it. The engine code, and left or right. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
