Also called serpentine belt, aux belt, poly-V belt.
How you know it is this
- A squeal on start-up or on full steering lock
- Cracks across the ribs, or missing chunks
- A belt that has shredded — and with it, no charging, no steering assistance and no water pump
Worth knowing before you buy
- When this belt goes, the water pump stops. Overheating follows within a few minutes.
- Always with the tensioner. A new belt on a worn tensioner squeals and then throws itself off.
- Note the routing before removal, or photograph it — some engines have a genuinely confusing run.
- A squeal on lock is often the tensioner, not the belt.
What we need to quote it. The engine code, and whether the car has air conditioning (it changes the belt length). The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
