Drive unit oil and seals

The oil in the reduction gearbox and the seals keeping it in.

How you know it is this

  • Oil beneath the drive unit
  • A whine that has appeared with age
  • Oil on the inside of a rear wheel

Worth knowing before you buy

  • AN EV IS NOT SERVICE-FREE. The reduction gear oil has a life, and it is the item most often skipped because owners assume there is nothing to do.
  • The oil is specific — some motors share a housing with the electronics, so the fluid must be electrically compatible. An ordinary gear oil is not a substitute.
  • Output shaft seals are cheap and the access is the cost.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
