Windscreen

The front screen, with whatever sensors, heating and coatings the car's specification carries.

How you know it is this

  • A crack spreading from a stone chip
  • A chip in the driver's line of sight
  • Delamination or a cloudy edge
  • Wiper scratching across the swept area

Worth knowing before you buy

  • SPECIFICATION MATTERS MORE THAN THE GLASS. Rain sensor, heated screen, acoustic laminate, heads-up display, camera bracket and heated wiper park are all options, and a screen without yours will not support them.
  • A car with a forward camera or DISTRONIC must be CALIBRATED after a screen change. That is not optional and it is not included everywhere — ask.
  • A chip repaired early is a fraction of a screen. Heat makes chips spread fast here, so it is worth doing the same week.
  • The rain sensor gel pad is a separate item and is the usual reason wipers misbehave after a new screen.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and whether the car has a rain sensor, heads-up display or forward camera. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
