Refrigerant and oil

The refrigerant gas itself and the compressor oil that circulates with it.

Worth knowing before you buy

  • REFRIGERANT IS NOT CONSUMED. A system that needs topping up has a leak, and topping it up again without finding the leak is the most common waste of money in air conditioning.
  • Older cars use R134a and newer ones R1234yf. They are not interchangeable and the equipment is different — the car's under-bonnet label says which.
  • The oil type must match the compressor. Mixing oil types damages it.
  • Charge by WEIGHT, to the figure on the car's label. Overcharging cools worse than a correct charge and strains the compressor.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number, so we match the refrigerant type and the charge weight. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
