Pressure switches and sensors

The switches and sensors reading system pressure, which decide whether the compressor is allowed to run and when the fans come on.

How you know it is this

  • Air conditioning that will not engage at all, with a full system
  • Cooling that cuts out intermittently
  • The cooling fan not running with the air conditioning on
  • An air conditioning fault code

Worth knowing before you buy

  • The system refuses to engage when pressure is too low or too high, to protect itself. A faulty sensor makes a healthy system refuse for no reason.
  • Cheap. Always ruled out before anything mechanical.
  • Most are on a Schrader valve and can be changed without discharging the system — worth asking, because it saves a regas.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
