How you know it is this
- An oily stain at a joint or along a hose
- Gas lost repeatedly with no leak found at the major components
- A corroded pipe, usually where it passes a bracket
- A hose that is soft, swollen or chafed
Worth knowing before you buy
- MOST SLOW LEAKS ARE HERE, at an O-ring or a crimp, not at the compressor or condenser everyone suspects. A proper leak test with dye or an electronic detector finds it; guessing does not.
- O-rings are single-use and must be the correct material for the refrigerant. A generic ring swells and leaks.
- Topping the system up without finding the leak is money spent on gas that will be in the atmosphere by next month.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and where the leak has been traced to. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
