Also called blower resistor, fan regulator, final stage unit.
How you know it is this
- The fan working only on the highest setting
- The fan working on some speeds but not others
- No fan at all with a motor that runs when tested directly
- The fan running continuously and refusing to switch off
Worth knowing before you buy
- FAN ONLY ON FULL IS THE CLASSIC SIGN and it is almost always this rather than the motor.
- Where it is an electronic regulator, a fan that will not switch off is the usual failure mode.
- A failing motor is what kills the resistor. Replacing the resistor alone on a stiff motor means doing it again.
- Cheap and usually accessible from the passenger footwell.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and whether the car has manual air conditioning or climate control. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
