Clutch kit — plate, cover, bearing

The friction plate, pressure plate and release bearing, supplied as a matched set. Manual cars only.

How you know it is this

  • Engine revs rising without matching acceleration, worst in a high gear uphill
  • A biting point that has crept very high or very low
  • A smell of burning on a hill
  • Juddering as the clutch takes up
  • A rumble that changes when the pedal is pressed

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Always as a kit. Fitting a plate to an old cover, or reusing the bearing, means the gearbox comes out twice.
  • Do the flywheel at the same time — it is the friction surface and it is behind the clutch.
  • The rear crankshaft seal is right there too. It is a cheap part and the labour is already paid for.
  • Most Mercedes sold here are automatic. Check before ordering.

What we need to quote it. The engine code and the gearbox, and confirmation the car is manual. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
