Heat shields

The thin metal panels between the exhaust and the floor, fuel lines and body.

How you know it is this

  • A tinny buzzing or rattling that changes with revs, usually at one particular engine speed
  • A shield hanging loose or missing
  • Discoloured or blistered paint or underseal above the exhaust

Worth knowing before you buy

  • The classic mystery rattle. Cheap to fix and easy to mistake for something serious.
  • Not optional. Without them the floor, the fuel lines and the carpet above get exhaust heat directly.
  • The mounting studs corrode and snap, so clips and fasteners are usually needed with the shield.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and whereabouts under the car. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
