Coolant pipes and flanges

The rigid metal and plastic pipes and the flanged housings that route coolant around the engine.

How you know it is this

  • A leak from a rigid pipe rather than a hose
  • A cracked plastic flange, often at the back of the cylinder head
  • Coolant appearing in the valley of a V engine

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Plastic flanges and thermostat housings crack with heat. Aluminium replacements exist for several engines and are worth asking about.
  • Pipes that run in the valley of a V6 or V8 are buried under the inlet manifold, so the part is cheap and the labour is not.
  • Corroded steel pipes usually mean the coolant was neglected or diluted with water.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
