How you know it is this
- Accident damage
- Corrosion around the handle or the number plate recess
- A tailgate that will not close squarely
- Lacquer peel
Worth knowing before you buy
- A powered tailgate carries motors, struts and a control module, and those are usually not included — establish what comes with it.
- The tailgate loom flexes every time it opens and breaks inside the rubber boot. Check that before blaming the lights or the camera.
- Supplied bare and needs painting.
- On a tailgate, half the tail light cluster is often mounted on it — see whether yours is the one that is damaged.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, the paint code, and whether the tailgate is powered. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
