Also called DEF, urea, BlueTEC fluid.
How you know it is this
- An AdBlue level warning, then a countdown of starts remaining
- A car that will not restart once the countdown reaches zero
- An AdBlue quality or injection fault
Worth knowing before you buy
- When the tank runs dry the car will not restart. This is by design and it is not a fault.
- It crystallises around the injector and in the lines, and that is what causes most AdBlue faults rather than the fluid itself.
- It has a shelf life and degrades in heat, which matters here — buy what you will use.
- Only BlueTEC and later diesels take it. A petrol car and an older diesel have no tank.
What we need to quote it. Confirmation the car is a BlueTEC or later diesel. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
