DC/DC converter

The unit stepping high voltage down to 12 volts to run the lights, the electronics and everything that is not the motor. It is what the 12-volt system relies on instead of an alternator.

Also called DCDC, DC converter.

How you know it is this

  • A 12-volt battery that keeps going flat on an EV
  • Warning lights across the car
  • The car shutting down while driving
  • A 12-volt supply fault

Worth knowing before you buy

  • THIS IS THE ALTERNATOR EQUIVALENT. If it fails, the 12-volt battery flattens and the car stops — even with a full traction battery. That surprises people.
  • A flat 12-volt battery on an EV usually means this, not the traction pack.
  • Liquid-cooled on most cars, so cooling faults present as reduced output.
  • Coded to the car.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
